Thirona develops computer algorithms for analyzing medical imaging data.

Thirona currently focuses on quantitative analysis of thoracic CT scans. These measurements can be used to detect lung diseases in an early stage, to monitor the progression of diseases, to quantify the response to treatment, to help decide which treatment options are best for an individual patient, and to optimize treatment planning.

Thirona was founded in 2014 by Eva van Rikxoort, PhD, and Bram van Ginneken, PhD, both faculty members of the Diagnostic Image Analysis Group of the Radboud University Medical Center, Nijmegen, the Netherlands and scientists at Fraunhofer MEVIS, Bremen, Germany.
